Japa: Nigerians descend on Youtuber over BBC interview

A Nigerian YouTuber Emdee Tiamiyu has received the wrath of his country men following a comment he made in an interview with the BBC.

During his interview, Tiamiyu claimed that most Nigerians easily lose focus while schooling in the UK and this happens because they use the Masters programme as an access route to gain entry into the country.

He said this shortly after UK's Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, announced a ban on Nigerians and other international students bringing family members to the country during their Masters programme.

According to reports, Tiamiyu is from Osun state, who is also a migrant in the United Kingdom.

He stated that Nigerians are not being truthful on their reason for schooling in Europe.

As a result of this, many Nigerians enraged by his remark, called him out for generalizing his personal view.

amb.yemisoile: I was live on air 2 days ago with one of UK's leading journalist and broadcaster, (Andrew Marr) and I was asked a similar question about why Nigerians bring their dependants to the UK. My response was simply that Nigerians are family oriented and love education. I also added that studying in the UK is not easy and students need their family around them for moral support. To say I am Disappointed is an understatement because how can someone go on National TV and share his personal views as that of majority of genuine Nigerian students who come to study for a degree to better their lives. This is going to certainly affect old and prospective students planning to study in the UK.

nabilelzhar: Some years ago I worked as a consultant for a local organization where this fool used to work. The problem about this guy is that he talks too much and brag that he knows everything. Whereas he doesn't know anything. To teach him become a problem because he is always high-minded. The boss had to inform me to play along with him because he has a low self esteem and he can make the work suffer if things are not going his way. I'm not surprised he did this
