The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig Gen Olakunle Nafiu, has advised prospective and current corps members not to abandon the service for foreign trips.

Nafiu stated this while addressing the 2025 Batch 'A' Stream Two Corps Members at NYSC Osun State Orientation Camp in Ede, Oyo State Orientation Camp in Iseyin and Ogun State Orientation Camp in Sagamu.

He called on them to brace up to contribute their quota to national development in all facets during their one year of national service.

Recently, the NYSC DG charged corps members to be more productive with their time by engaging themselves positively.
He said that time wasted can never be regained; therefore, they should utilise their service year judiciously by adding value to themselves for future benefits.

He gave this charge in his address during his separate visits to the 2025 Batch 'A' Stream Two Corps Members at the NYSC Rivers State Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai and Bayelsa State Orientation Camp in Kaiama.

General Nafiu also urged the Corps Members to endeavour to improve the living standards of their host communities by initiating and executing laudable projects that would reduce the sufferings of the residents.

He cited examples of some of their predecessors who had added value to the development of their places of abode through the provision of several landmark projects.

Speaking further, the Director General encouraged the Corps Members to build bridges of friendship among themselves during their service year.

While presenting his camp situation report to General Nafiu, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Mr Moses Oleghe said all the Camp participants had displayed a high sense of responsibility in their daily activities.

He added that a good number among the Corps Members had enrolled as volunteers in different camp committees like socials, media, sanitation, utility, Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS), among others.

"At the close of registration, we registered a total of 2,302 Corps Members comprising 931 males and 1,371 females", he said.

Similarly, in her camp report, the NYSC Bayelsa State Coordinator, Mrs Obiageli Okpalifo, said all the 1,730 Corps Members comprising 804 males and 926 females took the Oath of Allegiance as administered by Hon. Justice I. Eradiri, who represented the Bayelsa State Chief Judge at the Swearing-in Ceremony.
