Ize-Iyamu emerges APC governorship candidate in Edo

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has emerged the governorship candidate of a faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, loyal to the party's national chairman Adams Oshiomhole.

Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to Edo State Government, SSG, emerged the APC candidate after a consensus in Abuja.

A direct primary slated for June 22 will see him slug it out with Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Ize-Iyamu was represented at the screening by Senator Francis Alimikhena representing Edo North Senatorial District.

Others present include Former Edo Deputy Governor Lucky Imasuen; Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe; ex-Edo Speaker Thomas Okosun; former Minority Whip of the House of Representatives Samson Osagie; ex-member of the House of Representatives Patrick Obahiagbon and Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Peter Akpatason.
