Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has lodged a formal complaint with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, alleging misconduct by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) and controversial social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly called VeryDarkMan (VDM).

The petition, submitted on July 29 through her legal team, The Maverick Forte Legal, accuses the NPF-NCC of procedural breaches and bias during her recent questioning in Abuja.

Iyabo Ojo had appeared at the police facility following complaints of alleged cyberbullying and defamation filed by music stars Naira Marley and Sam Larry.

Her lawyers revealed that during one interrogation session, VDM a civilian and a defendant in another case where Iyabo Ojo is a witness was allowed to enter the room. The petition alleges that he was comfortably seated, helping himself to coffee alongside officers and the complainants, an action described as an unlawful breach of privacy and protocol.

The document also claims that Commissioner of Police Ifeanyi Henry Uche has an improper relationship with VDM, which reportedly grants him free access to the police facility. Additionally, Ojo’s team says private details from her interrogation were leaked online, allegedly by the activist.

Iyabo Ojo is calling for an independent investigation, a transfer of the case to Lagos, and an end to what her lawyers describe as a “tainted and partial” inquiry.

The actress further disclosed that her initial petition against VDM, filed in December 2024, has been ignored. Due to safety concerns and health reasons, she has vowed to stop attending sessions at the Abuja office.
