It wasn't credible - Davido speaks for the first time about Feb 25 presidential elections

Afrobeats singer Davido has spoken for the first time about the outcome of the presidential elections.

The singer who is on a media tour to promote his fourth album, Timeless was asked what he felt about the polls.

Speaking in a no-hold-barred interview, he simply said that the elections was credible.

He made this known on The Beat99.9fm as he noted that he was absent from social hence the reason no one heard from him throughout the electioneering period.

"I am happy people were not coming for me during the election because they knew if I was online, I would have been vocal, I mean, I have always been vocal about these things."

"I wasn't happy about it and this is me being honest, It is what it is but I personally don't feel like that was as credible election. I feel like the most important is the safety and life of everyone but that wasn't it and I can't hide it."

The electoral commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu, the candidate of Nigeria’s ruling party, APC, as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

Mr Tinubu defeated 17 other candidates who took part in the election. He scored a total of 8,794,726 votes, the highest of all the candidates, thus meeting the first constitutional requirement to be declared the winner.

He also scored over 25 percent of the votes cast in 30 states, more than the 24 states constitutionally required.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, who announced the final results in Abuja, said Atiku Abubakar of the PDP came second in the election.

Atiku polled a total of 6,984,520 votes in the election.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party came third in the election with a total of 6,101,533 votes while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
