Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) chairman Amaju Pinnick has declared that he doesn't have a hand in Finidi George's appointment as Super Eagles head coach.

The FIFA Council member made the disclosure in an interview with Arise TV on Thursday morning.

Addressing the controversies surrounding his influence in the appointment of the former Enyimba boss as Super Eagles coach, the football administrator said:

“It was a strong personal opinion that I propounded based on the fact that Finidi provides leadership and selflessness," he told Arise TV.

“The most elemental of why I advocated for Finidi is the seamless transition from [Jose] Peseiro to him because he was part of the system.

“He should be given support, the NFF on their part should build capacity around him."

The two-term president of NFF is seeking reelection to the FIFA Council.

Pinnick was first elected to the FIFA Council in March 2021 in Rabat, Morocco, making him the second Nigerian after Amos Adamu to occupy this office.

The FIFA Council election will be held in March 2025.
