Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has rehashed his decision to join Bursaspor in the Turkish second-tier league.
After a successful loan spell with Celtic in the Scottish league, where he helped the club win the league title and Scottish Cup, Iheanacho made a shock move to Bursaspor.
Many fans questioned the rationale behind such a move, considering the fact that Celtic were keen on making his deal permanent.
Despite the criticism, the former Leicester City forward insists he made a good move to a good league and, as things stand, he is enjoying his time at Bursaspor.
“As a player, you have reasons why you go to any club that you go to in Turkey,” he said.
“For me, football is the same all over the world wherever you go to, and you have to play football just like you play everywhere.
“Some of us are in Turkey and the division I play, there are lots of Nigerians there, but it’s a good league to be fair. I don’t know how people rate the league, but it’s a really good league and it’s not easy as we think. I’m enjoying it and they are enjoying it as well, and you can say it favours Nigerians, but it’s a good league.”
Iheanacho has been in remarkable form since his move to the Turkish second-tier league, netting 11 goals and providing two assists in eight league matches for his new side.
His hot form earned him a call-up by head coach Eric Chelle for the Super Eagles’ friendly against Russia.
