Popular on-air personality, Rufai Oseni has urged newly appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike to be restrained after the latter said he will demolish buildings contravening the Abuja masterplan.

Recall Mr. Wike said this while holding a press conference in Garki, Abuja, shortly after President Bola Tinubu inaugurated him as the FCT minister on Monday.

“All those people who are distorting the master plan of Abuja, too bad,” said Mr Wike. “If you know you have built where you’re not supposed to build, it will go down.”

Reacting to the comments of Wike and his demeanor, Rufai speaking on Arise TV on Tuesday, August 22 believes its too early for such comments that are likely to heat up the polity.

"I think somebody should talk to him (Wike). I am saying this because it was only recently that the Abuja traditional indigenes, the locals were talking about the possibility of them even having an FCT Minister that is indigenous. And for them to hear a thing like this, in an Abuja where you know that the land market is a speculators paradise already and the minister, his first day in office is heating up the polity by saying that if you have C of O (meaning a certificate of occupancy), your land would go. At a time like this," Rufai resorted.

"I mean, what do you want people to be thinking? It's just early days," he warned.

Mr Wike stressed the need to follow the Abuja master plan while developing the FCT. He pointed out that those developing on the green areas in the FCT would lose their properties to demolition.
