A Bus Conductor by the name Adamu has narrated how impossible it is for commercial motorists to carry 60% of its passengers.

Speaking about his experience after the gradual easing of the lockdown via Nigeria Info 99.3 FM, Adamu stressed that members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers and Police made it difficult for them by collecting bribes.

He stated that even though they initially agreed to carry 60% of their loading capacity- that is 11 passengers instead of his usual 20, they were still being charged by the NURTW for tickets.

Adamu's words: " Initially, we agreed to carry 11 passengers from Mile 2 to CMS. As we got to the bus stop we were asked to pay N500 by the NURTW for loading and N200 for ticket. They were everywhere.

"If you drive reach surulere and drop passengers, agberos go ask for money, same thing for Onile. Police sef go collect bribe on top," Adamu lamented.

Even though the conductor agreed to increase the bus fare by a N100, he revealed that it was not sustainable and blamed the agberos for simply refusing to empathise with the situation. He added that it was unfair to them and asked the press to be lenient in dissecting the situation.

"We charged them N300 the normal price before but we agreed to collect #400. Make una help us beg them to stop these things because the bus wey we collect na hire-purchase," Adamu explained.
