Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers has shared his honest thoughts on being left out of the Super Eagles call-ups for competitive matches.
The 30-year-old has delivered impressive performances for Nigeria whenever given the opportunity to don the Super Eagles shirt.
The Dutch-born Nigerian has earned seven caps for the three-time African champions, with all his appearances coming in friendly matches.
Dessers scored the opening goal against Ghana's Black Stars in the Unity Cup encounter before providing an assist in the final, helping Eric Chelle’s side lift the trophy.
The former Cremonese striker has netted four goals in seven appearances for Nigeria since making his debut against Tunisia in 2020.
“It hurts sometimes. It feels disappointing,” Dessers said via ModZero Sports.
“I’ve been in and around the squad for five years now, and I haven’t played an official game yet—just friendlies. I am going to say that hurts.”
