Is this the free and fair election Buhari promised? - Nigerians quiz after rigging, violence mar polls

Prior to the election on Saturday, February 25, President Muhammadu Buhari promised the country a free and fair polls.

In his attempt, he called for the Naira redesign policy, which caused chaos and violence after several Nigerians were unable to have access to their funds at the banks.

According to Buhari, this naira redesign policy and naira swap was necessary to prevent vote buying by politicians.

However, as the election began, there has been several complaints from Nigerians across the country.

Many cry over the inability to cast their votes, the malfunctioning of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, attacks from thugs rigging of election results from polling units, delay of voting among others.

Following the outcome of the marred election several Nigerians have expressed displeasure and disappointment at the election process.

They wonder if this is the free and fair election President Buhari promised the people of Nigeria.

Buhari after casting his vote in Daura, Kastina state, he was captured sitting at the comfort of his presidential home with his wife and children, relaxing and watching the election on television whiles other Nigerians experience struggle and attacks at their polling units.

There has been series of reports of INEC officials and agents, thumb printing on the ballot papers while voters wait for their arrival for hours.

Videos of some thugs attacking polling units and carting away with ballot boxes have also hit the internet.

Nigerians have called on INEC to deal with these happenings and caution its officials.
