The Eze Ndigbo Ghana and Assistant Publicity Secretary, Association of Ndieze Ndigbo in the Diaspora, HRM Eze Dr Chukwudi Ihenetu have expressed worry over the increasing insecurity and Criminality in Nigeria.

In a statement, the royal father whose efforts in conjunction with Nigeria High Commission in Ghana has on several occasions resolved trade conflict between Nigerian Traders in Ghana and Ghana Trade Union condemned kidnapping in the North especially in Kaduna where hundreds of school children were abducted from their schools by suspected bandits.

He lamented that development like this portrays Nigeria as a failing state before the International Community.

“I am deeply concerned about insecurity and other act of criminality in my country Nigeria. This development has made many companies relocate while those intending to establish new factories prefer to go to neighbouring countries. this ugly trend worsens the problem of unemployment in the country,” he said.

Commending the governors on their continuous support for one strong united country, HRM Ihenetu equally tasked them to address the corruption in the civil service. “It is alleged that cases of corruption are rampant among the civil servants as contracts awarded in most cases are inflated and poorly executed, while security votes meant to complement efforts of security agents are often diverted for other ulterior purposes. Ugly development like this often erode the trust of the people in their leaders”, he said

Furthermore, HRM Ihenetu equally agrees with the governors call on fair trial for all arrested suspects and for law enforcement agents to always carry governors of states along whenever they intend to carry out arrests in states in order to avoid confusion.

In his words of advice to the governors, HRM Ihenetu urges them to create employment as well as embark on infrastructure development. He said it is only through these means that the masses can truly enjoy the dividends of democracy.
