Former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has urged the Federal Government to protect worship centers in Nigeria.

He stated this amidst attacks by Boko Haram insurgents targetting Churches and clergymen in the Northeast.

Shehu Sani also advised that the private guards of worship centers should be allowed to bear arms.

He tweeted: “The continued condemnable targeting of Churches and the Clergy in the North-East by the insurgents, in order to trigger a sectarian crisis, demands that special protection unit need to be deployed to protect worshipping centers, or their private guards be permitted to bear arms”

The former senator stated this on Monday, just days before Ash Wednesday, which will see millions of Roman Catholic Church members dressed in black and matching across town to show their displeasure for the security situation in Nigeria.

The Church also disclosed that its members world-wide would rally round Nigeria to pray over the state of insecurity in the country.
