Following the numerous attacks in Nigeria, two states have called for a curfew in their respective states.

Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano, and his colleague from Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, took the decision to impose curfews after attacks in some communities.

The affected communities include; Igbariam, Aguleri, Umueri, Nteje, Awkuzu and Umunya.

Secretary to the Anambra state government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, revealed in a statement that the curfew will last from 7pm and 6am daily.

Profesor Chukwulobelu urged residents of the state living in the listed communities to observe the curfew.

He noted that security personnel will be deployed to enforce the curfew.

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, on the other hand, imposed a night curfew at all the borders of Rivers with Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Imo.

This move comes after the killing of security personnel by gunmen.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, April 27, Wike disclosed that the curfew would take effect from Wednesday, April 28, by 8pm.

"The Government of Rivers State has decided to restrict night movements into and out of the State from the land borders of the State.

“Consequently, a night curfew is hereby imposed and no person or vehicle is allowed into and out of Rivers State from 8.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. from tomorrow (Wednesday) 28 April 2021 until further notice.

“We wish to advise that those who have any legitimate need or reason to come into or go out of the State must do so before 8.00 pm when the curfew shall come into force daily,” he said.
