The Imo State Police Command has arrested two individuals suspected of being involved in the killing of a Police Inspector at the residence of Honourable Rex Anunobi, the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment in Imo State, on September 14, 2026.
The suspects, Olivia Patrick, a 31-year-old man, and ThankGod Mourice, a 25-year-old man, were apprehended at the scene immediately after the incident.
In response, Police Commissioner CP Audu Garba Bosso has ordered a comprehensive investigation to uncover the details of the case and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
In compliance with the directive, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), alongside the DPO, New Owerri Division, visited the scene, where necessary examinations were conducted and relevant exhibits were recovered and secured. The remains of the deceased Inspector were subsequently deposited at the mortuary.
The matter has been transferred to the SCID for further investigation, while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects at large.
The Commissioner of Police has directed the investigating team to ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law. The incident is a painful reminder of the risks and sacrifices police officers face in discharging their duties.
CP Audu Garba Bosso commiserates with the family of the deceased Inspector and assures them that the Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served.
To this end, the Command assures residents that the situation is under control and that appropriate security measures are in place to safeguard lives and property across the State. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information that may assist the ongoing investigation.
