The Imo State government has directed the closure of eight markets in Owerri in anticipation of President Bola Tinubu's visit scheduled for Tuesday.
Rex Anunobi, the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, called on traders from these markets to gather in large numbers to welcome the president.
The markets affected include Imo Relief Main, Green Roof and Plaza, Imo Auto Market, Naze, Imo International Market, Alaba, Imo International Market, Egbeada, Imo International Cluster Market, Naze, Imo Timber and Allied Market, Naze, Imo Cluster Market (Hausa section), and Imo Mechanic Village Market, Avu.
Anunobi urged market leaders to ensure traders comply with the government's directive. The markets will remain closed for the duration of President Tinubu's visit to the state.
