The former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has strongly condemned the gruesome killings that took place last Friday across Umualoma, Ndiakunwanta, and Ndiejezie communities in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.

In a statement issued to the press, Ihedioha described the massacre as “inhuman, unprovoked, and utterly reprehensible,” decrying a culture of unchecked violence that undermines the very foundation of civil society.

“Life is a sacred and divine trust, inviolable and meant to be lived in peace. What transpired in Ideato North was senseless and absolutely indefensible, especially as the victims posed neither provocation nor threat,” Ihedioha lamented.

He called on the relevant law enforcement agencies and all authorities at every level to rise to the occasion by launching a thorough investigation to unmask those behind this heinous act and bring them swiftly to justice, ensuring that such tragedies are prevented before they happen.

“We must never allow violence to become commonplace, nor give room for impunity to thrive. The security and peace of our people are non-negotiable. Every citizen has the right to sleep without fear and to wake without grief,” he said.

In an expression of solidarity, the former governor extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the entire Arondizuogu community, praying for divine comfort and the strength to bear the weight of this unspeakable loss.

“May God grant eternal rest to the departed souls, and may He heal the broken hearts left behind in the wake of this tragedy,” Ihedioha concluded.
