Ihedioha's case lacks merit- Supreme Court says

Ihedioha Ihedioha

The Supreme court has thrown out the application to review its January 14, 2020 judgment which sacked former Imo Governor, Emeka Iheodiha of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Apex court dismissed the case as lacking in merit after demanding a recess for a few hours to reconvene and deliver judgment on the application.

The court scheduled its judgment until 3pm today.

The Supreme court had fixed March 2, 2020, for hearing the application filed by Emeka Ihedioha, ex-Imo state Governor and the Abdul’aziz Yari faction of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State, respectively.

Ihedioha asked the apex court to upturn the judgment it delivered against him last month which nullified his election as Imo governor and declared Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressive Congress as the winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state.

The seven-man panel of the court led by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad decided to adjourn the hearing after Ihedioha’s lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), told the court that processes were still being filed.

The lawyer representing Uzodinma and his party, the All Progressives Congress, Damian Dodo (SAN), and that of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Taminu Inuwa (SAN), did not oppose the application for adjournment, MyNigeria.com reported.
