Veteran Nigerian musician Seyi Sodimu has shared his thoughts on the influence of Afrobeats superstars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, popularly referred to as the “Big 3.”
Speaking on a recent episode of the "What I Know" podcast hosted by Korty EO, with actress Shaffy Bello as a co-guest, the "Love Me Jeje" crooner explained that each of the three artistes commands a different kind of influence.
According to Sodimu, Wizkid possesses a unique and special aura, Burna Boy’s impact is strictly rooted in music, while Davido’s influence goes far beyond music.
He boldly stated that Davido has the kind of mass appeal that could earn him victory in a governorship election, unlike Burna Boy, whose influence he believes is limited to the music industry.
“The Big 3 are all doing it for different reasons. Burna Boy has conquered the stage, and he’s really good. Wizkid is special. But Davido surpasses music,” he said.
“If Davido decides to run for governor today, he would win. But I don’t think Burna Boy can win as a governor.”
This is not the first time Davido has been linked to politics. In 2025, former senator Ben Murray-Bruce predicted that the singer could one day become the governor of Osun State.
Davido also has strong political ties, as his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current governor of Osun State.
