IWD: Nigerian women are special breed, full package - Akpabio eulogises

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has applauded women for their resilience and efforts in overcoming challenges, as the world celebrates the International Women’s Day today, March 8, 2024.

Akpabio in a statement shared by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, praised women saying they are a full package and a special breed.

He added that women deserve all the respect.

The Senate President went on to describe them as resilient, industrious, and unwavering.

He also said that this year’s theme, “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress” was fitting because no nation succeeds without investing in women as citing the famous quote, “Train a woman and you train a nation”.

He asserted that the National Assembly under his tenure will continue to advocate for the improved welfare of women in Nigeria.

“We are very conscious that failure to invest in women is akin to killing development and destroying a nation,” he said.

He added, “I wish to use the occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day to proudly celebrate our women- mothers and sisters. On behalf of my family, Constituents, the Senate, and the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I sincerely wish our women a peaceful and fruitful celebration.

“I must say you are the best and I sincerely appreciate you”.
