I wonder why Nigerians accepted me despite not being rich - Buhari

President Buhari says he wonders why Nigerians accepted him as President "despite not being rich”.

He made this statement as some members of the legislative arm of government led by Speaker Gbajabiamila submitted the report on the National Security Summit held on May 26 by the house of representatives.

“The number of people that turned out to see me, some waiting for 10 hours in the sun, was more than anyone could buy or force. They just wanted to see who this Buhari is," President Buhari said.

"People wonder why Nigerians accept me, despite not being rich. I wonder, too."

He continued: "I felt I just have to serve Nigeria and Nigerians to the best of my ability."

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said Nigeria is a lucky country and Nigerians should congratulate themselves despite the multiple challenges that could have led to its division.

This was made known to the public by the President's spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina in a statement.
