Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, has revealed his decision to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, January 2025, GRV stated that he has not given up on becoming the governor of Lagos State.
When asked about the chances of running for governor, Rhodes-Vivour said, “By God’s grace, yes.
“I believe that if all parties do not come together, it is going to be a waste of time running in 2027 because there is a full state capture happening in this country now.
“We cannot afford for the opposition to be separate. For now, my job is to ensure that I have a strong party – Labour Party.”
Rhodes-Vivour having contested the 2023 governorship election, came second behind Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He polled 312,329 votes while Sanwo-Olu garnered 762,134 votes to become the winner.
