Former APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole Reveals He Was Sacked via Zoom Meeting
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has disclosed that he was removed from the party's top position through a virtual Zoom meeting.
In a recent interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT), Oshiomhole recounted the dramatic events surrounding his ouster in 2020, describing it as occurring amid the COVID-19 pandemic when virtual meetings became the norm. “I was sacked as APC National Chairman on Zoom,” he stated.
Oshiomhole’s tenure as chairman was marked by intense internal conflicts, particularly with some state governors. His removal followed suspensions at the ward and state levels, court rulings, and a decision by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC). The process unfolded during the height of coronavirus restrictions, leading to the virtual format for key deliberations.
The former Edo State governor later reflected on the period of isolation that followed, noting that many party members and associates distanced themselves from him after his removal.
The revelation has sparked reactions online, with many viewing it as emblematic of the APC’s turbulent internal politics and the unusual ways decisions were made during the pandemic era. Oshiomhole remains a serving senator representing Edo North.
