A counter-protester involved in demonstrations against anti-hunger protests in Nigeria on Thursday, August 1, in Abuja has revealed that they were paid to rally.
The unnamed man claims he was given N2,000 prior to the protest and promised to be paid an additional N3,000 after the demonstration.
For fear of his life, he appealed to remain anonymous, adding that they were promised N5,000 to protest against the hunger protests.
According to the protester, he is hungry and the money given to him would only quench his hunger for today.
Another anti-protester was heard in an interview expressing his grievances at the government despite joining the βno protestβ participants.
The nationwide protest began today, August 1, to express displeasure at the bad governance, hardship and insecurity in the country.
Despite several pleas to Nigerian youths to shelve the protest, they insist that until President Bola Tinubu adheres to their demands, they will continue the ten-day rally.
