'I was elected unanimously' - APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru responds to critics

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru has stated that he is the most qualified person to be elected as the national secretary of the party.

He made this known during an interview on Channels TV's 'Politics Today' on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

Responding to critics, Ajibola stated that he has worked so hard within the party in various capacities and was the best option for the role.

He also added that he made the first step by putting himself forward for the role and was elected because of his good deeds.

He said: "I put myself forward and I was elected unanimously, and to say who do I represent, I represent progressive bureau of our party. Go and check my record in the party. I have played critical role in supporting the party.

"I was part and parcel of the election of the political party in factually all the states of the federation and ... I was the secretary of the primaries in Edo state.

"Of course I am close to the president, but that's not the reason. I'm telling you, how I am a two-time commissioner... and somebody who has a track record of working for the party."

Recall that Ajibola Basiru was elected alongside former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who was made the National Chairman of the party.

The two party officials were elected at the 12th NEC meeting of the party held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
