I want to keep Southampton in the Premier League - Onuachu

Paul Onuachu says it was tough for him to leave KRC Genk for Southampton.

The Nigerian arrived Genk in 2019 and became household name in Belgian football.

Onuachu enjoyed a productive career with Genk, scoring 84 goals in 134 appearances, before sealing his dream move to the Premier League for a fee of about £15million.

In a conversation with Eleven Sports, he already indicated that he would leave Genk.

“It’s a tough decision, but I’m happy to see my childhood dream of playing in the Premier League come true,” Onuachu expressed with delight.

“It’s a great opportunity. The best league in the world. It’s something every player dreams of Southampton is battling to stay in the Premier League, and for Onuachu who swap table topping Genk for the Saints, he believes survival is possible.

“Southampton wanted me for a reason, but it’s a team sport. Southampton and I will fight to stay in the Premier League,” he concluded.

Genk reportedly receives a sum of about eighteen million euros plus bonuses for the striker.
