I used to pay N100k a month now N100k a week; this is evil - Fayose laments hike in electricity tariff

Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose, has lamented the hike in electricity tariff, following the announcement by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.

Recall that NERC announced consumers in Band A who enjoy 20-24 hours of power supply would see an increment in electricity tariff effective in April.

This caused an uproar as several Nigerians fought against the hike and called on the President to intervene.

In a video shared on social media, Fayose bemoaned the recent hike saying he now pays N100,000 for electricity per week.

According to him, the impact of the increment has taken a toll on his finances.

Fayose who earlier supported the move to increase the tariff for consumers, has now taken a U-turn as he begged the government to review the tariff.

He noted that previously he pays N100, 000 a month, but presently he is asked to pay N100,000 a week. Fayose wondered how the common man could afford the bill.

He said;

“Wahala has come, problems have happened, Ogun has happened. NEPA, you charged N100,000, last week. This week again, another N100,000.

How can the common man survive? Just three rooms pays N100,000. I thought it was a joke.

I was supporting the government before, and the salary is still low. You have to do something. It is not a joke.

Petrol has gone up, gas is high, diesel is up and now light is up while the salary is still low. How will people survive?

Government this is very evil, this is very bad. I do not support you in this NEPA. If you want to increase times three and a half or times four.

I use N100k a month now I use N100k a week. What about the common man that cannot afford it?

So, technically you are pushing some people to complete darkness. How can people survive?” he said.
