I used to earn N130K as salary in Lagos - Gov Ambode's former Special Adviser reveals in interview

Ademola Abass, a professor of International Law and a former Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Overseas Affairs and Investment to former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has revealed how much he earned on the job.

Ambode, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress was governor in the state between 2015 and 2019.

Speaking on Channels TV on a wide range of issues including the state of the country, Professor Abbas opined that ordinary Nigerians must demand the salaries of representatives in the national assembly in other to manage the country's expenses.

Speaking further, he said that as Special Adviser, he earned only 130,000 naira, however, the pecks of the job shot it to close to 800,000 naira.

"When I was in Lagos and a cabinet in the state, my salary was published and was around 138,000 per month. And then you have all the pecks in newspaper allowance, this allowance and that allowance and everything bumped it up to 700,000 to 800,000 naira per month."

"And if you must know I left a $14,000 job in my previous life because I believe I want to contribute to my society and that was my own sacrifice at the end of the day."

"What I am trying to say is, there is nothing stopping constituents to ask representatives if they mind publishing what they earn so engagement can be done at the end of the day."
