I thought Tinubu ordered Obasa's impeachment, so I joined - Desmond Elliot

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has said he thought the move to impeach Speaker Mudashiru Obasa was on the orders of President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, the insinuation led him to join the other lawmakers who signed the sheet that led to Obasa's impeachment, which was later reversed.

Elliot made this known during an interview with Channels Television.

"I was in South Africa for a wedding when the impeachment of Obasa commenced. I was confused when I returned. I saw my colleagues signing, and I signed too, thinking the order was from the presidency, until the president called us to return the speaker, which we did," he said.

“But eventually, Mr President called us and made us understand that it was not from him and asked us to return the speaker. And we did,” he added.
