‘I swear in God’s name, I have no hands in Lagos EndSARS killings’ – Nnamdi Kanu

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has denied involvement in the October 2020 #EndSARS protests and destruction of properties in Lagos State.

He made the denial in a video played in the course of his ongoing trial at the Abuja Federal High Court on Thursday.

At the resumption of the trial on Thursday, the prosecution, led by Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, called its second witness who, an agent of the Department of State Services, DSS, to continue with his testimony against Kanu.

During the proceedings the prosecution also played a CD plate where the DSS agent interviewed Kanu at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja on July 17, 2021.

In the video, the operatives asked Kanu if he was aware that his broadcast of October 20, 2020 led to violence, killings and destruction of public infrastructure in Lagos State.

Responding, the IPOB leader saidbLagos is not Biafra territory so whatever happened there can’t be attributed to him.

Kanu said: “I swear in the name of God that created heaven and earth, I have no hand and I know absolutely nothing in whatever form about the riot and destruction that happened in Lagos during #EndSARS.

“If I have authority over people, I won’t be calling for a referendum. I would have just woken up one day and say let’s create Biafra.”

Meanwhile, the trial judge, Justice James Omotosho, adjourned the matter till May 14, 21, and 22 for continuation of hearing.
