Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has spoken out about the high cost of electricity in Nigeria, revealing that he spends about ₦40,000 daily to power his home.
The respected actor expressed frustration over the situation, saying the constant spending on electricity is disturbing and places a heavy burden on ordinary Nigerians.
According to him, the situation reflects the struggles many citizens face due to the country’s ongoing power challenges.
“I spend ₦40,000 every day on light and it disturbs me a lot. Nobody seems to be bothered about what’s happening to the common man,” he said.
Nigeria has long faced electricity supply challenges, forcing many households and businesses to rely on alternative power sources such as generators and inverters.
His comments have sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences about the rising cost of electricity and the difficulty of maintaining power supply.

That’s really high. Electricity bill in Nigeria is just too much. 5X more than some western countries that even have 247 light.
