Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has cleared the air concerning his earlier comments on Victor Osimhen’s future at Galatasaray.

According to the Malian tactician, the Super Eagles striker is happy at the Turkish club, while insisting that the 27-year-old could not report for national duty due to injury.

Chelle made this disclosure following Nigeria’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Russia in the international friendly on Tuesday, October 6.

“Regarding my earlier comments about a possible transfer, they were misinterpreted. Victor likes Galatasaray, and the club is happy with Victor,” Chelle told the Russian Football Union.

“I consider him one of the best strikers in the world. When a player performs at such a level, there’s always talk of transfers around him. I never said he wanted or should leave the club.”

Osimhen has returned to training after sustaining a groin injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 win over İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4.

The former Napoli striker is expected to be available for Galatasaray’s upcoming matches against Kasımpaşa and Barcelona.
