Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has told expressed his disinterest in running for the 2023 presidential elections.

Ortom thanked his fans for the support, noting that he is concentrating on moving his state to a greater height.

The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Terver Akase on Monday, January 25, which was obtained by the media confirmed his disinterest.

The social media has been awash with posts by a group under the aegis of “Project Ortomise Nigeria Ortomatically 2023” calling on the governor to join the 2023 presidential race, Legit.ng said.

The group believes Governor Ortom is the man to rescue the country from the economy and putting an end to insurgency and banditry in the north.

They further described him as a "detribalized" Nigerian.

Ortom said his biggest target as governor is delivering good governance to the people of Benue state since he has more than two years to use in his second term.

While thanking the people of Benue state for their overwhelming supports, the governor further reiterated that he is committed to greater service in the state.
