I'm disappointed in Tinubu; he has betrayed me – Asari Dokubo cries

Former Niger Delta militant Asari Dokubo has expressed anger towards President Bola Tinubu and his government.

A video circulating shows Dokubo weeping and lamenting that President Tinubu betrayed him after he risked his life and put all his effort into ensuring his victory in the 2023 election.

Recall that the ‘warlord’ bragged about his relationship with Tinubu and asked his followers to hold him responsible should the President fail.

Explaining his reason for his bereavement and lack of confidence, Asari Dokubo vowed to no longer associate himself with President Tinubu but to form an alliance with the north.

In a video, Asari Dokubo said, “Today I feel that I apologise to our fathers like Dapagbriye Menford Okilo, that they were not wrong in forming alliance with the north and as young men, we will now start that same alliance.

From today, I will work and form an alliance with the north to crush all other opposition because those who hate us, whatever we do for them doesn’t mean anything to them. What ever the young people do to them doesn’t mean anything to them.

We will go all over Ijaw and take this message that it’s only the Nakaners that can work with the Ijaw people. We cannot work with the Yoruba people. They are betrayers to us. We risked our lives, voted, did everything and this is what we get?

The Tinubu I knew, and I took all the bullets, emptied my accounts for him, and said hold me responsible. The Tinubu I knew, I had so much confidence in him, but this is what I’m seeing today. It has taught me a very big lesson that trust is very expensive.”
