Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has been hailed by his new club manager, Alvaro Arbeloa, for his exceptional work ethic and professionalism.

Bassey was in action during Fulham's 1-0 victory over Bundesliga side Stuttgart at Craven Cottage last weekend.

Speaking in his post-match reaction, the former Real Madrid manager highlighted Bassey's commitment, physical strength and leadership qualities.

“Calvin is a proper and top player for my style of game because we need to defend so high and leave a lot of space behind. He has everything,” Arbeloa told Fulham media.

“He is a funny guy, but when we have to work, he is always the first one. I love Calvin and he can be our leader.”

Bassey has been impressive for the Cottagers in their pre-season friendlies, and his remarkable form has earned the 26-year-old praise from his new gaffer.
