A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has stated that he knows who will become the next governor of Lagos State.

The state is currently governed by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whose tenure ends in 2027 after serving two terms.

Many have suggested the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, while others say Deputy Governor Hamzat Obafemi will succeed his boss, Sanwo-Olu.

Some believe that former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode will make a return, while others claim President Bola Tinubu's son, Seyi Tinubu, will become the governor just like his father.

Amid the speculation, Igbokwe maintains he already knows who will be the next governor of the state.

He wrote on Facebook, "At the risk of not sounding immodest, I know who will be the next Governor of Lagos State, all things considered."

Reacting, one Nuhu Ali wrote, "Respectfully, no one should know the next Governor of Lagos State in advance. In a democracy, leaders are chosen by the people through free and fair elections, not predetermined outcomes. Suggesting otherwise undermines public trust and leans toward dictatorship, not democratic values."
