I know children, spouses, mistresses chosen over deserving candidates in judiciary – Fmr, NBA Prez reveals

The former President of Nigeria Bar Association, Olisa Agbakoba, SAN has confirmed the speculations that children, spouses and mistresses are flooding the judiciary.

In an interaction with Arise Television on Monday, October 30, Mr Agbakoba asserted that relatives of serving and retired judges and justices are being appointed to judicial offices at the expense of more qualified candidates lacking in such privilege and backing.

According to him, this situation has been ongoing for a long time and has now become a problem for the judiciary.

He said this while reacting to a question posed to him by Dr Reuben Abati, co-anchor of the Morning Show on Arise TV.

“Do you know some children, spouse and mistresses who have been appointed to the bench?” Reuben Abati quizzed Agbakoba.

In response, the former NBA President said he is aware of many but would not divulge the names else he would be sued.

He further said, those privileged children and spouses are usually appointed under different names to ease suspicions.

“Reuben, I know a lot but I won’t tell you. I know a lot of them because both you, Arise and myself will be sued for libel but I know them. They are flooding the judiciary; they are flooding in different names. We know that. It’s been going on for a long time,” Agbakoba said.
