Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has revealed why he chose to represent Germany over Nigeria at the international level.

Adeyemi was born in Munich to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother. The 23-year-old was eligible to represent Germany, Nigeria, and Romania.

The left winger opted to represent Die Mannschaft, making his international debut in September 2021.

Adeyemi has gone on to win six caps for Germany, scoring one goal.

Speaking on his decision to choose Germany over Nigeria, the former Red Bull Salzburg forward said:

“It’s a difficult question. I have to answer this to my father a lot of times,” Adeyemi told Oma Sports.

“It’s just like this: I had offers from the German Football Association, I had a good feeling there. And, in the end, I had to play for Germany. That’s how simple it is.”
