A suspected armed robber, Kassim Mohammed, 30, has disclosed how he stole about 30 cars in a space of three years.

According to him, the cars were sold to dealers in Birnin Kebbi and the Niger Republic.

He also added that the car brand he loved to steal was the Toyota Corolla because it sells very fast.

Mohammed was paraded along with other suspected armed robbers by the police in Abuja on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

“I normally take the cars to Niger, but I also have customers in Birnin Kebbi. I have been jailed twice and some of my gang members are currently serving various terms in prison. My favourite car is Toyota Corolla because it is marketable (easy to sell),” he said.

The police spokesman, Frank Mba, stated that the suspects were caught by the Intelligence Response Team in collaboration with police commands in Zamfara, Niger, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Sokoto states.

Items recovered from them include three revolvers, 19 AK-47 rifles, two gentle rifles, one sub-machine gun, one general-purpose machine gun, different types of knives, 453 rounds of live ammunition, and 17 vehicles of different makes.
