I have fulfilled all promises made to civil servants - Sule

Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule has said that his administration has fulfilled all promises made to civil servants before he assumed office in 2019.

The governor made the statement on Tuesday, June 15 in Lafia while declaring open a two-day multi-stakeholders regional peace-building dialogue on an integrated approach to building peace in Nigeria’s farmers’-herders’ crisis.

He said: “We inherited a situation where the minimum wage was not implemented and we promised we will resolve all of them and by the grace of God, we will resolve all of them.

“We have also implemented minimum wage in Nasarawa State, the only one pending and we are still looking at is the situation where people have not been promoted for 13 years and they want us to pay the 13 years. That is the only one pending and we are looking at that.”

Governor Sule said if the workers feel they can express their anger despite his efforts “they have the absolute right to express their anger and nobody should stop them from expressing it.”

The UNDP representative at the peace-building dialogue Mr Okafor Christian said the whole idea was to ensure that UNDP continues to support the governments of Nasarawa, Benue, and Taraba to consolidate their efforts in peace-building, according to The Nations.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Nasarawa State chapter has commenced an indefinite strike over implementation of partial minimum wage of 30,000.
