I employed you, I can't bring myself to your level - Amaechi fires back at Wike

Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi on Thursday, March 11, 2021, clapped back at Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state accusing him of stealing state's assets.

Reacting to statements made by Rivers State Governor, he noted that it is not in his personality to engage in any clash with people, adding that Governor Wike was once a staff who served under him during his tenure.

"He was my staff, I can’t bring myself low. I was a governor, I was also a speaker, I’m a minister. I was the two-term chairman of the governors’ forum. The same when I was a speaker. Why should I be discussing him?”

Amaechi also alleged that Wike once sold the state's asset and kept back part of the yields for himself after lying about the amount of money he got from the sale.

"You sold our properties, everything. And people are talking in this state because of the government that says they are fighting corruption and protecting people. You sold our property for $308m and kept for us $208,000."

The minister, however, indicated that he had moved on from quarreling with the governor over his said comments.
