I don't have problem with street renaming in Lagos - Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has said he doesn't have a problem with the renaming of streets going on in Lagos State.

MyNigeria reported that Eti-Osa LGA, Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA and Bariga LCDA recently changed the names of some streets named after people from other ethnicities. The streets now bear names that honour Yoruba heroes.

This didn't sit well with many of Igbo ethnicity who expressed their grievances on social media, especially after Charly Boy bus stop was changed and named after rapper Olamide Baddo.

In an interview with Charly Boy, Obi dismissed the action as mundane, saying he has no problem with it.

He said, "Personally, I don't have a problem with such mundane things. People have told me 'oh, theey are changing names of streets, they are doing things'... even people have expected me to even mention the Charly Boy thing, 'oh, you have not made comment on it.'

"I've not made a comment about it as you can see. I've not tweeted about it, I've not said anything about it. Quite frankly, it's because you mentioned it that I'm mentioning it. Since I came in here, we've been discussing other things and I've not mentioned it because I believe it is totally irrelevant."
