Former presidential aide and popular broadcaster, Reuben Abati has come to the defense of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and Bishop David Oyedepo after their audio conversation leaked on social media.

A conversation of Peter Obi pleading with the popular monarch to convince Christians in the southwest and northcentral was published by Peoples Gazette on Saturday, April 1.

The now-viral video generated mixed reactions on social and traditional media.

While the camp of the Labour Party and Bishop Oyedepo have responded to the leaked audio and has since described it as "doctored", political stakeholders who have a lot to gain from as far as the video is concerned believe Obi, a former Anambra governor just killed his political career.

Speaking on Monday, April 3, however, Reuben Abati says he sees nothing wrong with the video he listened too. According to him, Nigerians are making a mountain out of a molehill

"Even if that conversation between Peter Obi and Bishop Oyedepo took place, because I tried to listen to what is in circulation and I don't see why people are making a mountain out of a molehill."

"Bishop Oyedepo is a Nigerian and a prominent one and as pointed out in that other video, he said politicians come to him and people come to him for advice. We seem to have forgotten that he is a citizen before being a pastor."

"And through that he can advise people, he can talk to people. And the tape that I listen too, I didn't see Peter Obi or Bishop Oyedepo trying to incite anybody."

"So I don't really see what the big deal is about other than cast people in a bad light."
