'I cried and didn't bond with my son for two years, because I wanted a girl' - Tiwa Savage

Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage has shared an emotional and honest account of her early motherhood journey during a recent chat with popular YouTuber Korty EO.

In the interview, the singer revealed that she struggled to bond with her son, Jamil Balogun, for the first one to two years after his birth.

According to Tiwa, she had always hoped to have a baby girl, so discovering she had given birth to a boy left her overwhelmed.

“Honestly, I didn’t bond with my son for the first year or two. I always wanted a girl. They told me it was a boy, and I started crying. But now, that’s my best friend,” she said.

The award-winning singer also opened up about the professional challenges she faced after childbirth. She disclosed that she lost a major endorsement opportunity with Pepsi due to the physical changes her body went through after delivery.

Tiwa explained that although the initial connection was difficult, her relationship with Jamil has grown stronger over time. Today, she describes him as her best friend.
