Popular Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VDM, has taken further steps in his push for justice for a young lady identified as Mirabel by holding a video call conversation with her.

Mirabel became a major topic online after she tearfully alleged that she was raped in her apartment on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

She explained that she had been battling insomnia and had taken alcohol before finally falling asleep around 6 a.m. She claimed someone knocked on her door and, before she could fully regain consciousness, the person allegedly overpowered and assaulted her, leaving her bleeding.

According to her account, the alleged attacker later sent disturbing messages, claiming he had approached her twice in the past but was rejected.

The message reportedly stated he used his fingers and a razor blade to force penetration and also boasted that his wealthy father could protect him if the case reached court.

Determined to support her, VDM initiated a video call with Mirabel, during which he confirmed she is currently staying with a friend in the Ibafo area of Lagos while recovering.

This comes after she was reportedly rushed to the hospital following a suicide attempt involving a harmful substance.

During their conversation, Mirabel said she is gradually recovering physically but still experiences pain and difficulty sitting properly. VDM also revealed plans to move her to Abuja for further medical care while continuing efforts to pursue justice in the case.
