Today, August 1, 2024 marks the beginning of a ten-day protest scheduled nationwide with the aim of getting answers to their demands.
A large number of Nigerians in Lagos are protesting on the streets against bad governance, high cost of living, hardship, corruption and insecurity facing many citizens in the country.
Protesters have been seen on Obafemi Awolowo Road in Ikeja expressing their dissatisfaction with the leadership style of President Bola Tinubu.
“We are hungry, please save our economy,” “End bad governance,” “Enough is enough of hunger and hardship” are some of the inscriptions on the banners and placards held by protesters.
Nigerians are also calling on the President to address the people and explain his plan to resolve the crisis. Many blame President Tinubu for the hardship facing the citizens which began after he removed fuel subsidies on his first day in office.
The prices of food soared, fuel prices increased, and inflation erupted as a result. After one year in office, Nigerians are yet to see any change from the policies implemented by the Tinubu-led government.
