An eyewitness who spoke to the BBC in the latest investigative piece on late Nigerian pastor, Temitope Joshua, aka TB Joshua has described the late clergyman as ‘humble’.

The man identified as Agomoh Paul said he was “surprised by the humility” of the 32-year-old when he started his church in a swampy area in Lagos.

“They are huts built on top of swamp with wooden chairs everywhere. What surprised me was his humility. They way he talked, his ministration when he was talking. He wasn’t educated. He barely spoke English. There is so much poverty in this land. He was selfless,” Paul said.

The documentary by the BBC further revealed Joshua cleaned the church toilet for three years after it was founded.

It started by chronicling the birth of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) which is currently located in Ikotun.

Aired on Youtube on Monday, January 8, the documentary showed how at-least 25 persons gave an eyewitness account bordering on sexual assault, physical abuse, faked miracles and trauma -allegedly suffered in the hands of the late clergyman.

Joshua was popular for his miracles – which ‘delivered’ people – followers and visitors – of any ailment, ranging from cancer and HIV/AIDS to chronic migraines and blindness.

The healings performed by Joshua caught the attention of a far-reaching global audience among evangelical churches throughout Europe and Africa in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Many of his followers were drawn by his philanthropy, but most came for his so-called miracles.

The late clergyman was born in 1963 and died on Saturday, June 5, 2021, a week before his 58th birthday.
