The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis continues to linger on as reports indicate that the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar plans to take a swipe at the notable G-5 Governors.

This comes shortly after the aggrieved governors were reported to have endorsed another presidential candidate.

It was gathered that the PDP was said to be planning to expel the governors if they announce support for another presidential candidate ahead of the general elections in February.

As the G-5 governors continue to call for the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman to pave way for a new chairman from the southern region, the PDP has also planned to collapse its structures in the 5 states under the control of these aggrieved governors.

The G5 governors are Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).

Some claim that the internal crisis in the PDP began after Nyesom Wike failed to secure the presidential ticket of the party as well as its vice presidential slot.

Although Ayu had publicly promised to step down if a northerner emerged as PDP presidential candidate during the primary.

However, the PDP chairman refused to honour his words and fueled the polity.

Upon the return of the G-5 to Nigeria, the governors led by Nyesom Wike, denied making a deal with any presidential candidate. He revealed that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, had been having meetings with some APC governors.

It has been said that Atiku’s revealed plan for the governors would be a tit-for-tat response as it is capable of ruining the political careers of the G5.

The PDP allegedly plans to expel the G5 governors and write the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the party did not have candidates for their respective positions.

Also, the party will possibly sacrifice Makinde’s seat, all the candidates in Rivers state, Ortom senate seat and the other 2 governors contesting for senate.

This move by the PDP may also bring down the political empire of Wike alongside his future ambitions.
