How I landed my first million naira deal - Singer Frank Edwards

Nigerian gospel artist Frank Edwards shares his journey to fame, recounting how he produced one of his biggest hits while living as a squatter.

During a service, Edwards explained that in 2011, his mother gave him ₦150,000 to establish a small studio. He used the funds to create a modest recording corner in the room he was sharing with someone else.

That song, he says, became a turning point in his music career, paving the way for a marketer to present him with a ₦4 million recording deal.

“I recorded ‘Mma Mma’ under a blanket because we lived close to the roadside. I had only two pairs of jeans and ate once a day, but God still lifted me…I just flipped the paper, saw where they wrote ₦4 million and signed it. No need to read it. Make I chop first,” he stated.
