Ghanaian socialite and actress, Rosemond Brown also known as Akuapem Poloo was conveyed to jail in a taxi as seen in a trendy video circulating on various social media platforms.

The video vixen was sentenced to 90 days imprisonment by the Accra Circuit court today, April 16, 2021, for sharing obscene photos of herself and her 7-year-old son on social media.

The choice of the use of a taxi has raised an uproar in the West African country as many believe that is against the norm.

As is the case in many developed countries including Nigeria, convicted persons are usually transported in an authorized police vehicle. In Nigeria, the police service use the popular black-armored vehicle popularly known as "Black Maria".

According to reports, her seven-year-old son was also present at the final court hearing.

Background

Her sentence comes two days after she pleaded guilty to the charges at a Circuit Court presided over by Mrs. Christianna Cann in the country’s capital, Accra.

Akuapem Poloo, prior to her sentencing had pleaded not guilty to the charges when she was first arraigned.

The court deferred her sentencing to today, April 16, 2021, for her to undergo a pregnancy test to ensure she was not pregnant before her sentencing is passed.

The outspoken actress is facing three charges of publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence, conduct that in any way undermines another person’s privacy or integrity, and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being, local news portal, Kasapafmonline reports.

Case facts

- The case was presented by the prosecution led by Chief Inspector Agartha Asantewaa were that the complainant is Bright K. Appiah, the Director of Child Rights International Ghana.

- The accused person, Akuapem Poloo celebrated her son’s seventh birthday and she took her nude pictures together with her son who was also half-naked and posted same on her Instagram page which went viral on social media.

- The complaint petitioned the Director-General Criminal Investigations Directorate and the matter was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit.

- Rosemond Brown admitted to posting the nude picture but said it wasn’t intentional.
